Game Changer Launch!!

Posted:08/06/2022

We are thrilled to launch our “Game Changer” project at Somerset Libraries Taunton . Lizzy Ginbey from Digital Somerset and the Teapot Creative was our official “Opener” and it was great to hear her speak about the role of Games and gaming in bringing people together. Barry Tottle also from the teapot creative was there supporting Lizzie and it was a real honour to have both of them there.

Darren Smart the Service Manager from Libraries Development was there to see what was happening and we obviously made him try the “Ring Adventures“ game on the #NintendoSwitch! (He was worryingly good at it!). We also used Playstation 5’s and XBox series X consoles and a whole load of Games both old and new (games were thanks to our pal Edd!!) #gamechanger #teapotcreative #somersetlibraries

Our chums from Meadowbank Day Service came and had a great time using the OMI digital projector to play air hockey , basketball and a few other games.

The feedback we had was all really positive and everyone seemed to really enjoy playing the games and eating the X-box cakes! ( check out Lizzie cutting it!) Also great to see the peeps from Cream Care and the amazing Autopia Autism awareness events .

The day really demonstrated the power of gaming to bring people together. We were just honoured to be facilitating it.

Huge thanks to our pals Edd, Phil , Ali, James , Valerie and John Carter from the library service were stars in getting this off the ground.

and of course Becky Wright New Leaf Life Design who was our “hostess with the mostest”!! For the day.

We loved seeing the pure enjoyment coming from everyone and we can’t wait to do it all again next week! (In fact for the next 47 weeks!!!! )

Finally a giant thank you to Discovery Learning Disability Support and Somerset Community Foundation as well as Bridgwater Mencap and Sedgemoor District Council for helping fund this new endeavour. Also Not forgetting loveCommunityCIC the organisation which we’ve launched this project under!!!

We hope to see you all again very soon in Taunton and Bridgwater at the Hub charity.
